Marshall Project: Arkansas has most cases per prison population

A look at correctional cases in Arkansas. @MarshallProj shows Arkansas has more cases per 10k prisoners than any other state, at 1,915 cases per 10k prisoners. That’s almost 2 out of every 10.

The data I have is slightly higher than what the Marshall Project has, but it’s close.
I show 3,710 positive inmates in state correctional facilities. This doesn’t include the 764 Arkansas prisoners in the federal unit or the 315 who have tested positive in county jails.

20 prisoners have died in state prisons, and, as many outbreaks are new, we can expect to see more.
Here’s a breakdown of cases by state prison or facility (as of July 20):

Ouachita River Unit, Hot Spring County: 1,228 infections and 3 deaths
Cummins Prison, Lincoln County: 1,062 infections and 12 deaths
East Arkansas Regional Unit, Lee County: 824 infections and 4 deaths
Randall Williams Unit, Jefferson County: 287 infections and 1 death
Wrightsville Unit, Pulaski County: 176 infections
Central Arkansas Community Corrections, Pulaski County: 63 infections
Northwest Arkansas Work Release, Washington County: 49 infections
Grimes Unit, Jackson County: 6 infections
Barbara Ester Union, Jefferson County: 6 infections
Tucker Unit, Jefferson County: 5 infections
North Central Unit, Izard County: 2 infections
Pine Bluff Unit, Jefferson County: 1 infection
Mississippi County Work Release: 1 infection
Special Needs Unit, Hot Spring County: 1 infection
